Welcome to Body Dynamics

"Body Dynamics" is the name of Coquelicot ("co-cle-co") Gilland's healing practice - a comprehensive and integrative approach to wellness and continued evolution. She employs a unique and engaging discovery process that combines body-oriented developmental psychology, touch work, body sensing, intuition, mutual connection, and deep listening.

Coquelicot One core of Coquelicot's work has evolved through her more than 20 years of experience with Bodynamics, a developmental psychology approach that began over 40 years ago in Denmark. It offers a sophisticated and effective way of looking at mind, body, and emotions, integrating psychological insight with corresponding muscle-informed body structure and carriage. This approach provides a rich framework for understanding the relationship between psychological events and the way we physically hold our bodies, a model for how these patterns develop over time, and gentle, effective ways to introduce positive changes in the way we hold our body and how we make meaning of what we see.

A second focus here is on the practice of being deeply aware of your current experience -- noticing what you are thinking, what emotions you are having, what impulses are arising, what your body feels like, what you are wanting or not wanting -- while at the same time maintaining deep connection with another person. Sessions with Coquelicot are, by their very nature, opportunities to explore that dance of self-awareness and other-connection in a safe and honoring way.

Another fundamental element of her practice is an awareness of the positive benefits that can come from rewiring and "rescripting" old body stories through interventions like The Compassion Matrix™, Brain Gym, Reflex Repatterning, and, if appropriate, the profound power of simple touch by another person. This can be particularly useful when people are feeling emotionally charged or stressed due to present or past trauma.

Sessions with Coquelicot apply these and other approaches to collaboratively re-pattern, support, and guide those actively seeking a greater sense of freedom and wholeness. This enables clients to make positives changes in their lives more effortlessly and authentically. Areas of specific client focus include: recovering from shock and trauma, reclaiming old and building new life skills, handling life transitions, supporting creativity and artistic expression, and building body awareness -- which in time will result in carrying yourself differently.

Coquelicot Gilland is a Bodynamics Analyst, a Ministerial Counselor, and a Certified Massage Therapist (CMT). She is not an MFT, MSW, psychologist, or psychiatrist. She holds her ministerial accreditation with the Association for the Integration of the Whole Person, a non-denominational organization.

"I am going somewhere and that somewhere is everywhere, and it is important to be exactly on time at every instant. Because if I am not on time here, I shall never be on time anywhere."
- Satprem, By The Body Of The Earth

"After a while you learn
The subtle difference between
Holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't always mean security.

And you begin to learn
That kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head held up and your eyes ahead
With the grace of a woman
Not the grief of a child.

And you learn
To build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is
Too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way
Of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much
So you plant your own garden
And decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting
For someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn
That you really can endure
That you are really strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn and you learn
With every goodbye you learn. "
